qwerky is honored to have been recognized in The Museum of Modern Betas, or MoMB, perhaps because of the silliest reason — a mention of “alpha pre-release stage.”
Even sillier is that, if you haven’t noticed, both our sites are meant to be taken lightly, so it’s like an infinite loop: a silly site referring to another silly site for the same silly reasons they were created.
After over 500 entries of curious Beta, Alpha, and Invitation-only releases, you have got to wonder why all these sites are in a hurry to be released, despite their potential instability and bugginess — hence the first two letters of the Greek alphabet. Yet another Qwerk of Web 2.0.
Perhaps this is the best advice for all of them (er, us?):
“To you who are toiling over an AJAX– and Ruby-powered social software product, good luck, God bless, and have fun. Remember that 20 other people are working on the same idea. So keep it simple, and ship it before they do, and maintain your sense of humor whether you get rich or go broke. Especially if you get rich. Nothing is more unsightly than a solemn multi-millionaire.” — Jeffrey Zeldman, Web 3.0
Regular posts shall resume after the abnormality of the infinite loop has subsided.
Update: Pic updated to reflect the infinite loop. That is, MoMB has updated Qwerky’s screenshot to reflect this post and now this post is reflecting that post reflecting that loop. Geddit? (Squinting at it might not work.)
